It fits a pattern we’re seeing all across the country: privileged whites flaunting their possessions amidst underprivileged black males.For me, these statements may say it all:
Police don’t know why she would have been out so early Wednesday. Her roommates told police that they’d gone out at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday and that she had stayed home alone to study.
Officers responding to a report of gunshots around 5 a.m. Wednesday, in a neighborhood about a mile from campus, found her body lying in an intersection, police said.
Did Eva Carson know her assailants? As is being suggested by many on the streets, was she buying drugs?
“She and her clique of friends were common faces on the drug cuts,” one observer noted. “Rich white kids from the university frequently buy drugs and sex from their black male suppliers.”
Carson, a UNC senior and native of Athens, Georgia, was heavily involved in campus affairs. A pre-med student double majoring in political science and biology, she was a recipient of the university’s prestigious Morehead Scholarship and a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, according to a statement from UNC.
“At approximately 5:00am, Demario James Atwater was taken into police custody after he was observed exiting the residence,” said police today at a press conference.
Both Atwater and Lovett are causing a stir in the Ghetto Bragging Rights community.
Atwater’s hardened demeanor and stone face during his arrest video excited GBR community members across the nation.
Lovett’s profile while trying to use Carson’s ATM card, however, is (as one GBR member writes) “the sexiest thing on the web!”
State records indicate both suspects are on parole. Lovett was given a suspended sentence in January for misdemeanor larceny and breaking and entering. Atwater was convicted of felony breaking and entering in 2005 and illegal possession of a firearm in 2007. He also received a suspended sentence.
But who’s the alleged triggerman?

“One observer”? Sounds substantiated to me…

… there’s only one observer quoted…. Most of all, if Eve was a flaunter and liked flaunting her possessions in front of underprivileged black males … she was asking for it.
I’m just curious how legitimate your observer is (or isn’t). Unless you have some knowledge of what happened at that intersection, speculating that she did something to “ask for it” (it being a bullet in the head) seems really callous.
I have no idea whether Atwater or Lovette are guilty, but going on the offensive to attack the character of the DEAD GIRL just reeks of poor taste.
Which is sexier? You guys have got to be kidding me. These are two juveniles who, because of a lack of conviction in the judicial system, should have never been allowed back onto the streets. Both have extensive criminal records and killed a promising young woman. White or black or green makes no difference. They killed this woman, and all you can say is one of their pics is the hottest on the web? They should be thrown under the jail! Death sentences for both. We as a society are too leniate towards criminals and allow suspended sentences when they should get hard sentences, again, no matter what color. How many times do we have to continue to hear that a suspected killer, rapist or whatever, was just let off on another charge just before comitting another crime? How about the young man gunned down in Los Angeles who had a promising future while walking home talking to his girlfriend? Hear the MO on the alleged shooter? 48hrs out of jail on another charge. Guess his family, although Hispanic, owned slaves back in the day too huh? Ridiculous. Find something more consructive to do with your time, if you can.

For me, these statements say that she, like I have HUNDREDS OF TIMES, pulled an all-nighter to get work done-many college students do this, especially those who strive to achieve a better life for themselves. The difference between the two of us is that my campus actually has a service where someone will follow you home (regardless of whether or not you are in a car)–so that someone can’t kill you and then steel your car and wallet.
