By 1860 slaves made up nearly half the population of Clarke County. County records prove that a ‘Walter Carson’ did own 1 slave. Is Eve Carson a distant relative of Walter Carson?
Most likely. In remote populations kinsmanship is more likely than not when the surname is the same.
More disturbing in ancestral search of Carson’s forebearers is that the Carsons may be related to the Thrasher family - a family with much more savage slave history in Athens, Georgia.
At the start of the war 1,892 slaves and one free black lived in Athens. Their numbers increased during the war as plantation owners allowed their slaves to “hire out” to earn wages in town for the master gone to battle. The armory often hired skilled slaves during the war.

What does this have to do with the crime that she became victim of?
We’re not sure she isn’t one of these young white girls who fantasized about being robbed and killed by young black thugs. Also, if her family owned slaves and hadn’ t paid their reparations, many African Americans/ sentiments toward her may change i.e. instead of feeling sorry for her, she might have deserved it.

You do realize that Athens, Georgia isn’t a “remote population”. Athens is home to the University of Georgia and its 33,000 students… as a result, there is a very transient pattern of migration to and from Athens.

I’m confident, having read your posts on Eve Carson, that you are either participating in deep satire, posing as a black militant to slight blacks, or that you are sociopathic and on the verge of being arrested (hopefully).
There is no known phenomenon called ‘privileged white flaunt’; there is no “they” that participates in this. You’ve fabricated it. If you think that, by their very existence, whites in the world are flaunting their privilege, you’re a sick person. If anything, the conspicuous display of material possession is most present in certain parts of the black community, where the notion of “bling”, chromed-out beemers, and any other symbol of establishment wealth are on clear display whenever possible. It has been established as a subcultural norm to be loud and in-your-face with these displays.
But the bottom line is, to even imply that Eve Carson in any indirect or direct way deserved a fate similar at all to what has happened is beyond perverse. The responsibility for the actions of the two mongrels who did this lies with them and, more importantly, with the environment in which they were raised. At some point, blacks need to accept some responsibility for their lives, and stop pointing elsewhere for any behavior or situation. I live in a somewhat blighted neighborhood in my city, and I see the horrific way that some black children are raised. By the time these kids are in elementary school, they are so ingrained with such poor upbringing that it seems nearly impossible that their lives are going to be anything but desperate. You cannot raise kids by acting like an irresponsible, addicted thug or lowlife who curses in front of and at their kids constantly, who deals or does drugs out of the same house that the kids live in, who, from day one, never teaches their kids anything about basic ethics, basic right and wrong. Only passes down anger, despair, selfishness, hopelessness, irresponsibility and lack of personal accountability from day one as an example of how to live, to children who, inevitably, take on the same attitudes, habits, posture, anger. By the time they are 11, it’s often a done deal that life will contain certain inevitabilities. And those things are largely community-imposed and avoidable.
Again, I hope this is supposed to be a sick-minded satire here. Perhaps it is a satire of extreme black nationalism. If not, I suggest you read the ENTIRE biography of Malcolm X, where he embraces universal humanity, rather than stopping at the militant, extremist phase. Whether it’s irresponsible satire, an attempt at posing as a black militant in order to slight them, or actually genuine, if you indeed believe in the kind of universal karma you’re implying here, don’t be surprised if that karma visits you.
Hey y’all, please read this. Eve was my neighbor. Her family is a bunch of Yankees- never owned slaves. She went to the public high school (Clarke Central, look up the statistics) with LOTS AND LOTS of people of color when she could have gone to any number of private schools. She was not some over privileged white girl, taking it out on people less fortunate. She had many, many friends and yes, many of them were African American, Indian, Latino, & Asian. She was cool as h#ll, please don’t make her out to be one of the spoiled rotten honkies.

I have heard that in many of his unpublished papers, he emphsizes a reality not often expressed: Western whites are reprobate, morally corrupt and without the ability to change. Wow! Actually, the title of the Alex Haley-assisted book, considered the authoritative book, is “The Autobiography of Malcolm X”, not “The Life and Death of Malcolm X”, but that’s just one of your many inaccuracies.
The book chronicles a growth from his adherence to militant Black Muslim viewpoints, to an embrace of true Islam, following his Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca). The papers you talk about regarding his views of whites precede this conversion. The book documents that phase as well, so, yes, he at one time bought into the whole notions of the White Devil, etc. Yet he eventually grew beyond that. This maturity angered militant black muslims, who have been speculated since then of possibly being part of his assassination. Sad.

To any others reading, it matters not who Eve Carson’s, or anybody else’s, ancestors were. We all must accept what can’t be changed, change what can be, know the difference, and move ahead with our lives together. Eve Carson’s mother served in the Peace Corps for two years in one of the toughest assignments in Sub-Sahara Africa.
Eve’s mother taught her to be respectful of, “EVERYONE.”
If any of you would have been able to go to the candle-light ceremony held at Clarke Central High School, you would have seen Eve’s many BLACK friends there crying their eyes out with just as much of a sense of loss as anyone else in the building.
Now lets see …. if you go back in time, past the civil war and slave trade to the FIRST slave owners where did they live? Africa, and who were their slaves? In the Bible it talks about slave and hand-madiens. I believe that is why there is a 2500 yr war between christain and muslem. Remember Ismal and Isaac? Now as for the slave part the EGYPTIANS owned slaves and were certainly not WHITE. Their slaves tolied in the sun to build pyramids, breaking rocks in the hot sun. Their slaves didn’t have slave quarters, were not given their freedom but died chained together in the hot sun. I am quite sure that slavery has been around for a long t ime. MANY ethnic races had slaves. It didn’t just start with trans atlantic trade. It was well established thousands of years before and perfected by Africans. My family owned slaves, big deal. I cannot change the past. I know MANY blacks in the south that carry my family surname. If they hate it so bad renounce it and take up some Africaif some name lie Kuta Kentee.
